Neumann-Goretti Boys and Girls Back in Position To Capture State Titles

Both the boys and girls basketball programs of Neumann-Goretti are back in a familiar position, and are gearing up to compete for their respective state championships.

 

With an overall record of 11-5, a 7-0 undefeated league record, and winners of six straight games, the boys are playing their best basketball of the season to start league play. Winners of six of the last seven class AAA State Championships; the Saints are no strangers to big time games.

 

With upcoming games against three teams that are in the top five of the catholic league standings, the Saints are entering a tough stretch of games as the regular season comes to a close in early February.

 

As for the girls, who have won consecutive state championships, are looking to continue their recent postseason success, and bring another championship trophy to 10th street.

 

Along with the boys team, the Saints’ girls are also 7-0 in league play, and currently have an overall record of 13-3. The lady Saints didn’t just take care of business in the state championship a year ago, they won decidedly, with a margin of victory of 37 points.

 

With a history of excellence on the court at Neumann Goretti, the 2017 Saints’ boys and girls basketball programs are no stranger to having high expectations, and will look to continue this history of excellence throughout the rest of the regular season, and into the postseason.
