Carroll dominates Bonner-Prendie
On his birthday, Archbishop Carroll senior guard Khari Williams scored 16 points and led the way for a 73-50 victory over Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast on Friday night. Williams, who had 13 of his 16 in the first, the tone early as the Patriots led the Friars 37-23 heading into the locker room at halftime.
Williams got a lot of help from his fellow seniors on Senior Night with Colin Daly and Jesse McPherson scoring in double figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Freshman point guard AJ Hoggard contributed as well, filling up the stat sheet with 11 points, nine boards and five assists.
The atmosphere was electric and the student section was jumping on senior at Archbishop Carroll in Radnor, and seniors Williams, Daly, McPherson and Jimmy Lake were all honored before the game. Then once the game started, the seniors didn’t disappoint, especially Williams.
With the win, Carroll improves to 14-7 overall and 6-6 in Philadelphia Catholic League play, putting them in 7th place in the standings. Bonner-Prendie now has the same record as Carroll as a result of the loss, but now sits in 8th place by virtue of the head-to-head tiebreaker owned by Carroll.
With one more day of regular season PCL play, it looks like both Carroll and Bonner-Prendie will play in the opening round of the PCL playoffs against Conwell-Egan and LaSalle. The individual matchups will be determined following Sunday’s PCL contests. Should they win their first round games, both Carroll and Bonner-Prendie will have to play either Archbishop Wood or Neumann-Goretti, who have only one less each in PCL play, in the league quarterfinal round.
