Coatesville took down Cheltenham in the PIAA District One Semifinals by a final score of 79-58.  The Red Raiders move on to face Abington in the district finals Saturday at the Pavilion on the campus of Villanova.

In a tightly contested first half, Coatesville led by nine as the first 16 minutes of the game came to a close.  The Red Raiders closed the half on a 9-0 run, to take a nine point lead heading into the second half.

Coatesville was led by guards Kamau Brickus, and Dapree Bryant in the opening two quarters.  Bryant scored seven in the half, followed by Brickus, with six.  Freshman guard Jhamir Brickus also scored six in the opening half.  Red Raider junior center Tyrel Bladen scored five points in the half, as all the Coatesville starters scored.

Cheltenham junior guard Ahamad Bickley led all scorers with eleven points in the first half.  He was helped by Rodney Carson, with six points, to go along with a game high five rebounds in the first half.

Coatesville continued its momentum into the third quarter, jumping out to a 15 point lead heading into the fourth quarter.

The final quarter proved much of the same for the Red Raiders, as they stretched their lead to over 20 points early in the final frame.

The Red Raiders were led by Jhamir Brickus throughout the game, the freshman scored a game high 22 points on the night.  Following Jhamir Brickus, Dapree Bryant tallied 18 points, and two rebounds.  Tyrel Bladen was the third Red Raider to reach double figures, he scored 11 points, and also brought down two rebounds.  Kamau Brickus, brother of Jhamir, tallied 12 points.

Panthers guard Ahmad Bickley led the way for Cheltenham with 14 points, followed by Kyin Healey with 11 points.  Carson finished the game with eight points, and five rebounds.  Junior guard Jack Clark scored eight points on the night, and collected eight rebounds.

Cheltenham had trouble controlling the ball throughout the night.  Their three straight turnovers leading to nine points to end the first half, turned into continuous turnovers in the second half.

Coatesville now awaits Abington at Villanova.  The Red Raiders will have the task of slowing down Eric Dixon, who scored 29 points against Plymouth Whitemarsh.
