SFBN High School Previews: Central – PIAA District 6

Central Dragons finished last season with a 12-2 record that led them all the way to the semi-finals of the Class AAA state playoffs, losing to the eventual champions, Beaver Falls, 14-7. Central will be without the services of two-way player Alex Hoenstine, who led the team in rushing with an astounding 2,504 yards, scored 42 touchdowns and was second on the squad in tackles with 81. Central will turn to senior back Jared Smith to carry the load on both sides of the ball. Smith was second on the team in rushing with 543 yards and led the team in tackles with 87 – 23 of them for a loss. Austin Garner, a senior defensive lineman, will be the primary pass rusher for the Dragons.  He got to the quarterback 11 times last season.
