The Imhotep Panthers finished the 2016 season with an impressive 13-1 record playing in the Pub, but fell just a touchdown shy of a Class AAAA state championship. Imhotep showcased a stingy defense last year, holding opponents to just under six points per game. However, Mark Schmidt’s club will be losing 24 seniors, 17 of which played on the defensive side of the ball. On the offensive end, the Panthers have three running backs returning as seniors that are expected to carry the load: Kristian Marche, Isheem Young and Chris Wells. Schmidt will lean on junior Jalen Sutton-Christian as his signal caller.
