Martin Luther King Cougars light up Ben Franklin Electrons, 43-6
PHILADELPHIA, PA -
In a Philadelphia Public League matchup, the Martin Luther King Cougars defeated the Ben Franklin Electrons, 43-6. The Cougars now improve to 4-3 on the season while the Electrons fall to 1-5.
It's been a tough year for the Electrons, who have had much success over the last few years with some talented players. Ben Franklin won the Public League 4A championship in 2014 and have produced players like wide receiver Rasheem James, who is now starting on Division 2 powerhouse West Chester.
Meanwhile, the King Cougars under head coach Ed Dunn have had an up-and-down season. The Cougars had a couple early season league losses to Bartram and South Philadelphia, but have now won their last two games trying to get on track for the playoffs.
King has already locked up the number-four seed in the Public League 6A playoffs and they will take on Lincoln in the first round at the end of October. Should they win that game, they'll likely face top-seed Northeast, who are 5-2 on the season and have only lost to state title contender Imhotep and Neumann-Goretti.
