This is what the Bartram Braves have been playing for all season - an opportunity for a rematch against the mighty Imhotep Charter Panthers in the Public League 4A championship game. After an easy 22-0 victory over West Philadelphia this past weekend in the Pub 4A semi-finals, the Braves are now a perfect 10-0 and will put their undefeated record on the line this Saturday against one of the best teams in the state.
Bartram made a statement by starting the year off with a 22-21 victory over Archbishop Ryan. Since then, the Braves have blown away Public League competition by a combined score of 388-38. But much has been said about Bartram's strength of schedule being weak since they were not in the top division in the Pub with teams like Imhotep, Northeast and Gratz. But Bartram did what a good team does - beat who is put in front of them - and they did so handily all year long.
Last year the Braves finished 9-2, with their only losses coming in the first game of the season to Gratz and in the last game of the season to Imhotep in the Pub 4A championship. But with now two full solid seasons under their belt and leadership by one of the top quarterbacks in the area in Mahmud Dioubate, Bartram is ready for the rematch against Imhotep.
Only one team can make it to the District 12 4A championship and have a shot at a state title run. If Bartram can find a way to knock off Imhotep, it would be an upset heard around the entire state of Pennsylvania and the Braves would finally get the respect they deserve.
